The Pre-school children always have a great time at Forest School, and love exploring nature. This month they have made bird feeders to help our feathered friends get through the winter. Why not make some for your garden and see who comes to tea?

You will need:

Length of garden wire & string to hang up your feeder

Mini shredded wheat breakfast cereal or similar – Cheerios work very well too

Chopped up apple – or perhaps some festive cranberries!

Thread the cereal and the apple pieces onto the wire. Once the wire is almost full, bend it into a circle (like a wreath) and twist the ends of the wire together to fasten. Tie on a piece of string and hang your feeder from a tree – see how many different species of bird come for a meal in your garden!
